Where to Find the Happiest People in Michigan
Where would you be happiest in the Great Lakes state? If you want to be surrounded by other happy people, the Grand Rapids area is a great choice. The researchers at HomeSnacks just published a list of the happiest cities in Michigan for us. It’s no surprise (at least to this Grand Rapids real estate agent) that East Grand Rapids was named the Happiest City in Michigan – with Forest Hills not far behind.
Of course there’s no single indicator to measure a city’s general well-being. The HomeSnacks study compared data for the largest cities in Michigan based on a few factors that contribute to overall contentment – salary, stress, home life, and weather. They factored in things like average commute time, cost of living, employment rates, and even Twitter tweets with the hashtag #happy. The results showed a few things that put East Grand Rapids and Forest Hills at the top when it comes to happiness.
East Grand Rapids: For one thing, the area boasts remarkably short commute times, averaging about 17 minutes, which allows you to spend more time in your happy home, family, and community. The statistics didn’t even factor in Reeds Lake, the quaint and walkable downtown, great schools, and a host of recreational opportunities right outside your door.
Forest Hills : This unincorporated community was actually number one in Michigan for home ownership, safety, and a couple of other categories. Certainly Forest Hills is a great pick, with excellent schools, walking trail systems, and those beautiful wooded hills.
For each person or family, your happy place is going to be different depending on your tastes and preferences. But if you’d like to surround yourself with happy people, statistics don’t lie – you can’t go far wrong in East Grand Rapids or Forest Hills! Make sure you work with a Grand Rapids real estate agent who understands your needs and preferences, and can help you find the home that will make you truly happy. Contact The Sprich Group today.
