Driving the Real Estate Ball

Michael Weitzman • Jul 09, 2013

Whatever your passion (and mine is golf!), it is bound to
spill over into other areas of your life. If you think about it, your favorite
pastime can actually help make you better at what you do professionally. For
me, I try to use the game I enjoy to help me be the best Grand Rapids real
estate agent I can be.

Even if you’re not really a golfer, you probably know that
every golfer works to develop a long, controlled drive. Beginning golfers often
drive the ball by swinging as hard as they can and hoping to make contact. With
practice and focus, most golfers eventually discover that one of the keys to a
long, straight drive is just to make good solid contact, and that has more to
do with control and focus than swinging hard. Simply knowing that is a start,
and then it takes a lot of practice and experience to keep improving your
drive.

I’ve learned that the same is true with each real estate
transaction. As a Realtor, every transaction is an opportunity to focus and do
my best, and put all of the knowledge I’ve gained from years of experience into
play. If I’m really on my game, it should look smooth and effortless.

Legendary golfer Henry Cotton reportedly said, “Every shot
counts. The three-foot putt is as
important as the 300-yard drive.” In real estate, every detail of a transaction
can be crucial to helping a client with the end goal of selling or buying a
home. All too often these days (in any profession), people stumble when it
comes to following through and doing what it takes to finish the game, or close
the transaction. It can be because our lives become busy and we lose focus. Or
because we get distracted by other priorities. I can assure you, that when it
comes to real estate, my reputation for follow-through and customer
satisfaction is earned through hard work, and the effort I put into making sure
your goal of home ownership or home selling is met.

A real estate transaction can be seen as a series of long
drives and shorter puts, and need a Realtor who is in to finishing the game
like a golf pro. If you are looking for a Grand Rapids real estate agent, call
